Here in the north as the winds howl and the snow falls deep, we try to remain patient as we wait for the spring. But this is the time of the Full Snow Moon. Days and nights are cold and food is scarce. We are reminded that winter is most harsh right before the birth of spring.
The Full moon of February this year will rise on the ninth, at 14:47 Greenwich time. For Those in the Unite States, she will rise high in the sky in the morning between 7:40 and 10:40 am. This month the full moon brings us a lunar eclipse. Unfortunately it will be difficult to see as the light source and the shadow fall at an angle which make it difficult to see with the naked eye. However, many people believe that a lunar eclipse holds significance . Many people believe that spiritual messages are extremely strong during an eclipse. It can be a very cleansing time for growth as you can cleanse away any negativity you have been carrying around with you. It is also a great time to begin new journeys and life paths as it is a sacred time of growth cleansing and rebirth.
Now is also a great time to start thinking about the spring to come. Start planning your garden layouts, and begin to order seeds. Planning for the spring to come, will help you get through this, the full snow moon. It takes the focus off of the lack of food, and the bleak, and starkness that comes with the last weeks of the winter months.
There are also a few holidays that you can celebrate to brighten your days,Imbolic, the day of the fire festival, sometimes referred to as Saint Brigit’s day, which tells us if spring will be early or late. Valentines Day, and the festival of Mardi Gras. Or as I hear in the Unite Kingdom, you call this Shrove Tuesday, and I believe pancakes are in order. Also, candalmas and lent.
However you choose to celebrate, or not celebrate, this is a time to stay warm. Soon the spring thaw will arrive, and we must be patient. The Full Snow Moon will shine bright upon the earth with her heavenly light. Even though she will rise during daylight hours, rest assured that she is there shining her light down to the ground. So in parting, I send full moon wishes and blessings from my family to yours, may your dreams sparkle on the moonbeams. By Jeja
